Obituary

Boston – Lawrence G. Rose, 70, of North Dartmouth, died Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Valerio) Rose.

He was born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph G. Rose, Jr. and the late Mary (Brazil) Rose, and had resided in Dartmouth since 1968. A 1952 graduate of Fairhaven High School, he served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, being awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nation Service Medal. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he worked for over 35 years as a production manager for Revere Copper and Brass, Inc., New Bedford and after retiring he worked at Sears in the tool and paint department. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mr. Rose enjoyed gardening, photography, trips to Foxwoods and spending time with his family.

Including his wife, he is survived by a son: Kevin L. Rose of NH; 2 daughters: Bethany J. Manny and her husband Roger M. of Dartmouth and Gwendolyn J. Arruda and her husband Richard K. of Dartmouth; 2 brothers: Joseph G. Rose III of Fairhaven and Edmund G. Rose of Acushnet; a sister: Delores Hanson of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren: Sean R. Manny, Amy R. Manny and Abigail G. Arruda; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, Friday, June 3, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Thursday 4 – 7 P.M.

Interment will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.

In lieu of traditional flowers, potted plants have been requested to establish a memorial garden.
