Josephine Vieira, 99, formerly of Fall River, died Tuesday October 13, 2015. She was the wife of the late John R. Vieira. They were married in 1942 and Mr. Vieira passed away in 2005.
Born and raised in Fall River she was a daughter of the late Michael and Zofia (Felag) Wawrow. She was a lifelong resident of Fall River until 2006 when she moved to her daughter’s home California.
She attended St. Stanislaus Parish and also worshipped at St. Elizabeth and Holy Trinity.
Josie enjoyed reading and had a special life of prayer.
She is survived by a daughter Joanie Gomes and her husband, Nick, of Simi Valley, CA, two grandsons David Gomes and Daniel Gomes, three great-grandchildren Audrey, Mason and Daphne. She was the sister of Bridget Majkut of Fall River, Anna Caron of Swansea, and the late Alexander, Joseph, Stephen, Stella and Rev. Mr. William Wawrow (Friar Beede, OFM) and Mary Sagan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am in St. Stanislaus Church, 36 Rockland St. Fall River. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. Local arrangements entrusted to the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home 709 Broadway, Fall River.
