Obituary

Robert J. “Bob” Castello, 82, of Riverside died Sunday evening at Crestwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Warren. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Palazini) Castello. Bob and Betty were married on July 2, 1955 and celebrated their 60th anniversary this past summer.
Born and raised in Manville he was son of the late Louis and Mary (Recorvits) Castello. He resided in Albion, Greenville and later in Riverside.
Mr. Castello was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1952. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College in 1956 and later received his Master’s degree in mathematics from Brown University in Providence. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh and the New York Maritime Academy.
Mr. Castello was a mathematics teacher at North Attleboro High School and later at the Middle School. After 35 years of teaching he retired in 1991.
Bob enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was a gifted trumpet player and performed with a polka band. Bob was a staunch New England Patriots fan. He also enjoyed football played by those of all ages and in earlier years had great times on ski trips with his family. Bob and Betty also enjoyed traveling. Some memorable destinations include Italy and the Panama Canal and escaping New England winters to the warmth of Florida.
In addition to his wife of 60 years he is survived by two sons Russell Castello and his wife, Denise, of Ft. Myers, FL, Richard Castello and his wife, Jean, of Barrington and a daughter Kendra Crosby and her husband, William, of Burlington, MA. He was the brother of the late William Castello. He is also survived by his grandchildren Liam and Ciara Crosby, Casie Castello and step-grandson Ryan Galego and his wife Laura.
His funeral will be Friday at 9:00am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will follow in St. Stephens’s Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm.
