WORCESTER— Gordon K. Gray, 84, died Thursday, May 27, 2005, at University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Gorham) Gray, a son Gregory G. Gray husband of Jean M. Gray of Oxford, a daughter, Jennifer H. Schlegel wife of Mark J. Schlegel of Worcester, 2 brothers, Roderick Gray of Maine and Harold Gray of Maryland, a sister Bernice Schonbeck of Maine, 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Megan, Andrew Gray and Jason, Amanda, Joseph, Joshua Schlegel and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Phyllis Glynn predeceased him.
He was born in South Brookfield, Maine, son of Gorham and Helen (Cheyene) Gray. He graduated from Brooksville High School and Worcester Junior College. He was a member of Guiding Light Lodge AF&AM, 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Boston, American Legion Post 0642, the Morgan Retiree's Club, a former Cub Scout leader, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher at Adam Square Congregational Church, and a member and a deacon at Greendale Peoples Church, Worcester. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 31, at 11 a.m. in Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 30, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester.
