Frances A. (Scalisi) Silvestro passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 92. Born and raised in Boston’s West End, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Liboria Scalisi.
Frances worked as a stitcher through her life and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She worked primarily with G&L Manufacturing and with Nurse Wear.
She was a voracious reader and had a quick wit. She was remembered by family members for sending greeting cards on the holidays. She liked to crochet, was a great cook and made awesome pasta sauce. Frances was also a great fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.
The beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Silvestro, she was a devoted mother to Antoinette “Toni” Silvestro of Medford, Domenic Silvestro and his wife Deborah of North Reading. She was a loving grandmother to Michael Silvestro and his wife Natalie of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Elsenbeck and her husband Matthew of Jamaica Plain and loving great-grandmother of Odin Kendall Elsenbeck. She is predeceased by her late brother Ignatius Scalisi.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 6 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
