Obituary

Worcester- Virginia R. (Sootkoos) Bloom, 95, of 161 West Mountain St., died Saturday, May 28, in UMass-Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus.
Her husband, Harold C. Bloom, died in 1979. She leaves a son, Harold A. Bloom of Worcester; three grandchildren; a great grandson; nephews and nieces. A son, William J. Bloom, died in 1997. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Pronskitis) Sootkoos and lived here all her life. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1928.
Mrs. Bloom was a secretary for many years for the City of Worcester School Department, before retiring.
She was a member of St. Christopher’s Parish, the AARP Bancroft Chapter, and the St. Ansgar Scandinavian Catholic League. She was a volunteer for the Senior Meals Program at Zion Lutheran Church and she enjoyed traveling.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 1, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m in St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the funeral home.
