TEWKSBURY: Elaine (Brabant) Hawkes, age 73, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, died Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of the late William R. Hawkes, Sr. who died August 28, 1994.
Born in Tewksbury on September 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace (Monbleau) Brabant. Mrs. Hawkes attended Tewksbury schools.
She was a communicant of St. Williams Parish.
Prior to her retirement in 1983, she was employed as a nurses aid at the Tewksbury Hospital for 12 years.
She enjoyed flower gardening, shopping for Christmas gifts and sharing her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by 5 daughters; Dianne G. Ashton and her husband Arthur of Billerica, Susan C. Carey and her husband Michael of Methuen, Donna M. Sperry of Billerica, Sharon L. Connolly and her husband Leonard and Lisa A. Hartigan all of Tewksbury; 2 sisters; Rita Fortier and her husband Richard and Claire Hawkes and her husband Harold all of Tewksbury; her brother-in-law; Robert Hawkes and his wife Barbara of Tewksbury; 15 grandchildren; Craig, Scott and William Ashton, Michael, Sean and Ryan Carey, Joseph and Courtney Sperry, Jill Hawkes, Jessica, Samuel and Meaghan Connolly, Elaine, Emily and Lacey Hartigan; 2 great grandchildren; Katelynn and Elizabeth Ashton; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hawkes was the mother of the late William R. Hawkes, Jr. formerly of Tewksbury, who died in 1958.
Calling hours Tuesday, May 31st from 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Wednesday, June 1st at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
