Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8pm. The family wishes to thank the Brockton Dialysis Center for the compassionate care given to their father since 1998.
Obituary Information
Mr. Roan died Friday evening at the Brockton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He had been involved since 1998 with Kidney Dialysis. He was the husband of the late Norrine K. (Minnehan) Roan for 52 years. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Christopher J. and Lillian (Reynolds) Roan; he was a lifelong resident of Brockton, a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1941 and a 1947 graduate of Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. Mr. Roan served in the US Army attached to the Air Force and was a Staff Sergeant with the 124th AACS serving in Burma. He had been employed by the Internal Revenue Service since 1954 retiring in 1985. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed computer research in his later years focusing on Irish history, his heritage and local Brockton history. He was a proud member of the Ash Street Dump Gang. He had been a longtime communicant of St. Margaret Church.
He is survived by one daughter Elizabeth A. McCarthy of Bridgewater, two sons Timothy C. Roan of Dubai, UAE, and Michael F. Roan of Norfolk, one brother John Roan, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Roan and Mary Malcolm.
