NEW BEDFORD… Beth B. Briggs, 92, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones on October 11, 2015.
Beth was born in 1923 in Fall River, MA to Harry and Estelle (Brierly) Briggs. She was raised by her Grandparents William and Martha (Carey) Brierly, and her aunt Ivy Whitworth Brierly.
Beth graduated from Durfee High School in 1941. She worked for a time at the former Hotel Mellen in Fall River as a receptionist. She was an accomplished pianist, who loved to play and sing for others. Beth was a skilled knitter who loved fashion and clothes shopping. She touched the lives of many people in her years on this earth. She attended Project Independence ADHC in New Bedford for many years.
She was tended to and loved by several "angels on earth" and her caregivers would like to acknowledge Beth's good friends Lori V, and Sherry of Project Independence, Kristine D. and Sue C. of personal Touch VNA, nurses Randi, Tammy, and Shiela of Hope Hospice, nurse Amy S.and social worker Deb M. of Family Services of Fall River, volunteer Madeline D. from Coastline Elderly, and Dr. John Stively, MD of Hope House Calls for the outstanding care given to Beth and the support given to her surviving" family", her caregivers Dan and Billie-Jean White and their son Christian DeMoranville with whom she shared a home and her life for the past 8 years.
Beth will be remembered for her winning smile, her grace, and her thankfulness for any kindness shown to her. She was a gentle, kind and loving soul who despite life's adversities found the silver lining and taught those around her about doing the same through her example.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, October 26th at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
