New Bedford – Wyllis R. Sorenson, 80, of Acushnet died after a long illness on May 27, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred (LeBlanc) Sorenson, they were married for 56 years.
Mr. Sorenson was born in Bagley, Minnesota, son of the late Selmer T. and Buelah (Dennis) Sorenson, and resided in Acushnet most of his life. He was employed as a truck driver by the former Reliable Truss, New Bedford until his retirement. He was the manager of the former Golden Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps of Acushnet. He enjoyed carpentry and sports.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter: Susan M. Petitpas of Fairhaven; 3 sons: Michael R. Sorenson of Kennesaw, GA, Wesley T. Sorenson of Acushnet and Chris J. Sorenson of Acushnet; 2 sisters: Lois Moe and her husband Don of Minnesota and Arizona and Mary Jane Sorenson of Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
He was brother of the late Robert and Dennis Sorenson.

Funeral service on Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Home, St. Michael’s Unit, 359 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
Interment will be private.
