Kelly A. Pothier, 48, of Fairhaven died October 20, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. Following her courageous fight with ovarian cancer in 2013, Kelly's battle resumed in January 2015 with metastatic ovarian cancer that had spread to her liver and stomach. Her strong will to survive, unwavering faith in God, and the love and support of family and friends carried her through many rounds of grueling chemotherapy and endless doctor's visits.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Gerard R. and Rita A. (Gonneville) Pothier, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven and was employed by LifeStream, Inc. prior to her illness.
Survivors include her parents; a daughter, Hannah Pothier of Fairhaven; a sister, Christine Pothier and her husband Robert Boergesson of Fairhaven; a nephew, Samuel Boergesson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
It was her daughter and the simple things in the world around her that brought Kelly the greatest joy. Kelly's passions included gardening, animals and spending time at her beloved 'Sandy Beach'.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and heartfelt support from too many individuals to mention. A special thank you to her Hospice Team (Sally, Lynn, Fatima and Hank) for helping to make her final days in this world, as peaceful as humanly possible.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 30th at 9 AM in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, October 29th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett.
