Obituary

CHICOPEE – Madeleine M. (Thibault) Chabot, 73, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Saint Néree, Province of Quebec, Canada on May 14, 1942, a beloved daughter of the late Eugene and Antoinette (Labrecque) Thibault. She was raised in Saint Néree and, following her marriage in 1961, Madeleine and her husband, Laurent, moved to the North End section of Springfield where they settled on Calhoun Street. They later moved to Dover Street in Springfield where they lived until moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1986. Madeleine was employed for many years as a private housekeeper in the Springfield and Longmeadow area. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on Waverly Street in Springfield where she was a member of Les Dames de Saint Anne. She was currently a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, Madeleine enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and traveling. She was the longtime Vice-President of the Brightwood Branch of the Springfield Golden Age Club, a longtime Secretary of Les Dames Franco-Americaine, a member of the Springfield Hobby Club and a former Cub Scout Den Mother. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Laurent Chabot. They were married on July 8, 1961 in Saint Néree, Province of Quebec, Canada and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she leaves her loving son and daughter-in-law, Mark J. Chabot and his wife, Nina, of Chicopee; her two cherished grandsons whom she adored, Brandon P. Chabot and Justin J. Chabot, both of Chicopee; her four dear brothers, Denis Thibault and his wife, Aline, Marcel Thibault and his wife, Genevieve, Gaetan Thibault and his wife, France, and Martin Thibault, all of Province of Quebec, Canada; her three dear sisters, Ghyslaine Thibault, Lise Beaudoin and her husband, Yvon, and Lisette Godbout, all of Province of Quebec, Canada; her dear brother-in-law, Richard Chabot and his partner, Fabien, of Province of Quebec, Canada; her three dear sisters-in-law, Monique Depre, Lorraine Bedard and her husband, Rene, and Gisele Chabot, all of Province of Quebec, Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Chabot and Thibault families. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home), which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
