Mary E. (Langtry) LaPlante, RN. age 88 of Salem, NH, passed away Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Salemhaven Nursing Home, Salem, NH.
A resident of Salem, NH, since 1955, she and her husband Paul lived on Old Rockingham Rd. Most recently she resided at Greystone Farm in Salem. She was born in Lawrence, MA, where she grew up and attended schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She later graduated from the nursing program at the old Carney Hospital in Boston, MA in 1936.
Mrs. LaPlante worked as a Registered Nurse for the Hale Hospital in Haverhill, MA, during the 1940s. She was a Charge Nurse for the Lawrence General Hospital on Ward E, where she single handedly cared for 25 or more patients at a time. She later worked for the family owned L & M Bakery in Lawrence, MA.
She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem. She was Vice Regent of CDA (Catholic Daughters of America). She had many friends at the Salem Senior Center and was one of the volunteers that helped manage the lunch program for other seniors.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul E. LaPlante
She is survived by 2 Sons: Paul E. Jr. & his Wife Johanne LaPlante of Florida

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, Salem, NH. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from 4-8 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
