Gloria Joan Davis Powell, 83, of Decatur passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Powell at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 East Ponce DeLeon in Stone Mountain, where she will be laid to rest. Eulogies will be given by family and friends.
Born December 3, 1931 in Camak, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Lafayette Clyde Davis and Claudell Frost Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Madison Powell, Sr. and a son, James Madison Powell, Jr. She was a homemaker and was also owner of an antique shop.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughter, Licia Nicholson of Tifton; a sister, Mikki Pierce of Thompson; five grandchildren, Bill Nicholson, Christie Nicholson, Maggie Powell, Abbey Powell and Jayme Powell; and a great-grandson, Logan Berger.
