TEWKSBURY – Rosalie C. McGloughlin, age 86, died unexpectedly at Lowell General Hospital on Sunday, October 18. She was the beloved wife of David C. McGloughlin Sr., who died in 1963.
She was raised in the Mission Hill section of Boston, but had lived in Tewksbury since 1963. While raising her family, she worked as a blueprint librarian at Raytheon in both Burlington and Wayland facilities. For the past two decades, she had been a member of the Carnation Drive senior housing in Tewksbury.
In her retirement years, she was active at the Tewksbury Senior Center, was a member and past officer of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club, volunteered for Community Teamwork in Lowell, and the Lowell branch of the Salvation Army’s S.A.G.E. program. Throughout her life she served as an officer in the Tewksbury-Wilmington Emblem Club 381, where she continued to work tirelessly toward the ideals of the Emblem Club. Rosalie was also a graduate of St. Mary’s College in N.Y.
She leaves five children, Robert G. McGloughlin of Dracut, Mary K. Marks and her husband Lester of Riverview, Fla., Kathleen Ahearn of Atkinson, NH, David C. McGloughlin of Littleton, MA, and John J. “Jack” McGloughlin of Lowell; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many dear friends in the senior community in Tewksbury.
She was also mother-in-law of the late Diane (Spinelli) McGloughlin who died last May.
Visiting hours Thursday, Oct. 22, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Friday, Oct. 23, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
