BAR MILLS- George Marshall Pease passed away on October 14, 2015 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Scarborough, Maine.
Marshall was born in Buxton, Maine, on January 26, 1922, the son of James and Flossie (Maddox) Pease. He graduated from S.D Hanson High School in 1939 and the University of Maine, Orono, in 1943, with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he went to Buffalo, New York, working for Curtis-Wright in aircraft design. At the onset of WWII, he chose to enlist in the infantry, serving in the 14th Armored Division in Europe. He was the recipient of the two Honorable Service Medals, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart, for wartime injuries.
After the war, he returned to Maine and worked for the Maine Turnpike Authority for a short time. He went to work for New England Telephone Company in Bangor. With his long career in the telephone company, he relocated with his growing family to Calais, Maine, and every New England state, ending his career back in Portland, Maine.
He was a member of the American Legion and Buxton Masonic Lodge #115 AF&AM.He is predeceased by his sister, Arlene, and brother, Eugene. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret (Anderson), daughter, Marsha and her husband, Jacob Sartz, son Martin, and his wife Terri, and son Weston. He is survived by two brothers, Burton and his wife, Barbara, and Harlan, and a sister, Dorothy. He leaves three grandchildren, James, and his wife, Amber, Alison, and her husband, Nicholas, and Hilary and her husband Kole. He leaves two great-grandchildren, Noah and Emerson.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Oct.18, from 3-5 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Masonic Honors will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 5 PM. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday at 1 PM at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery, River Road, Buxton.
