Elizabeth C. Mello, 70, of New Bedford died October 11, 2015 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Evangeline (Prenda) Mello, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Ms. Mello was formerly employed as a nurses aide at St. Luke's Hospital for several years and later was a transit coordinator for Friendly Harbor Services. She worked for Brenda Burke for over 20 years at Project Independence as a certified nurses aide and adult daycare activities director. She served her beloved adult daycare participants in a variety of management positions.
She enjoyed crocheting, dancing and watching sports especially golf.
Survivors include a son, Adam Mello and his wife Robin of Brockton; a brother, Richard Mello and his wife Patricia of New Bedford; a sister, Beverly Fields and her husband Larry of Lakeland, FL; 3 nephews, Jason Mello, Richard Fields and Jeffrey Fields and a niece, Sara Mello.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 22nd at 10 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church.
