WAYLAND: Raymond G. Bertrand, 75, died comfortably on September 29, 2015 after an illness of several months.
He was born in Sanford, Maine the son of the late Maurice Bertrand and Yvonne (Thibeault) Bertrand.
Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Diane C. (Morin) Bertrand of Wayland. Beloved father of Thomas M. Bertrand and his wife Maria P. Bertrand of Marlborough and Suzanne R. Prescott and her husband Randall W. Prescott, Jr. of Hingham. Cherished grandfather of Joshua T. Bertrand and Rachael M. Bertrand of Marlborough and Hilary A. Johnson and her husband David Johnson of Williamsport, PA; Trevor J. Prescott; Kathryn E. Prescott and Megan D. Prescott all of Hingham. He was the brother of Richard Bertrand and his wife Madeline Bertrand of Sanford, ME and brother-in-law of Elaine Kersey of The Villages, FL; Marguerite and Alan Ladieu of Gilford, NH; Jeanne and Charles Landry of Concord, NH and Paul and Patricia Morin of Manchester, NH. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ray and Diane have been residents of Wayland for over 44 years. He spent his formative years in Sanford, ME and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Sanford. He received his BA in Accounting from Bentley College in Boston and had a 35 year career as the Controller in the commercial lending division of State Street Bank in Boston before retiring. He delighted in being outdoors especially teaching his grandchildren to fish and spent many camping trips with his wife and children in his earlier years. Ray was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his son Thomas at the Wayland Country Club on a weekly basis and the many special times they spent together. He was also a member of the Riverside Rod and Gun Club in Hudson.
Ray was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and enjoyed all of the time that spent with them. He had a strong Christian faith and was a member, for many years, of the First Baptist Church of Sudbury. He will be remembered by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 as 12:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Sudbury, 162 Landham Road, Sudbury.
Interment will be in the Morin family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia, NH at a later date.
