Theresa Carolyn Purvis, 68, of Alapaha, Georgia, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Alapaha with Father Fredy Angel and Deacon Ray Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha. A Rosary Service will be held at 6 PM, Tuesday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, followed by a visitation until 8PM.
Mrs. Purvis was born February 16, 1947, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late John Daniel and Mary Geneva McMillan Griffin. She lived in the community all of her life and was a licensed practical nurse. Mrs. Purvis enjoyed taking care of others, being outdoors and working in her yards. She was a very active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne Purvis, Jr. & Katherleen of Alapaha and Michael Purvis & Melinda of Alapaha; four grandchildren: Kathy Purvis, Christopher Purvis, Jayden Purvis and Alex Purvis; two great-grandchildren: Gavin Arrington and Garrett Arrington; four brothers: Edison Griffin & Mary Ann of Knoxville, Tennessee, John Wayne Griffin & Cindy of Bonifay, Florida, Charles Griffin of Milledgeville and James Thomas Griffin & Kathy of Alapaha and a sister: Mary Ann G. Woody & Don of Nashville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Wayne Purvis, Sr.
