Marie C. Chagnon, 87

Marie C. (Amalfitano) Chagnon, of Mansfield, passed away with her adoring family, on Sunday, October 11, 2015 on Cape Cod. She was the beloved wife of Omer A. Chagnon, to whom she was wed on June 20, 1953.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was a loving daughter of the late Louis and Lucy Amalfitano. She grew up in Providence and was a graduate of Central High School in Providence.
Marie’s family and her role as a wife, mother and friend was the most important thing to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what Marie enjoyed most of all.
Marie had made her home in Mansfield for the past 32 years. She was a devout catholic and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
In addition to her beloved husband of 62 years, she is survived by her loving and devoted daughters Luanne Chagnon-Erb and her husband Jimmy of Mansfield and Michele Chagnon-Holbrook and her husband Rick of East Sandwich. The dear sister of the late Frank Amalfitano, she is also survived by her cherished niece Vanessa Comley and nephew John Vanderbrook.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, October 17th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
