FAIRHAVEIN -- Doris M. (Chandler) Magoon, age 88 years, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health.
She was born in Fairhaven on January 23, 1924 to Russell and Alma (Pierce) Chandler.
Doris was totally devoted to her family and lived a selfless life. She worked as a waitress at Davy's Locker for many years and was a former member of the First Baptist Church and South Baptist Church.
Doris is survived by 3 children: Sharon Frias and her husband John, Wesley Magoon and his longtime companion Linda Sumner, and Gary Magoon and his wife Deborah. She also leaves 1 sister Carol Pilkington and her husband Richard, and was predeceased by her siblings Russell, Donald and Bobby Chandler, Grace Jupin and Myrtle Steele.
Doris will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren: Valerie Frias, John W. Frias and his wife Amy, Allison Lemieux and her husband Steve, Andrea Martin and her husband Jesse, Sherry and Chad Magoon, Gregory Magoon, Jessica Hunter and her husband Jon. Also her adoring great-grandchildren Mason, Stevie, Kaylee, Avery, Autumn, Haven, Jakob, Silas, Darcy, Evan, Jillian and Blake.
She also leaves several nieces and nephews, cousins and a dear friend and caregiver Beth Bowen.
The family would graciously request that in lieu of flowers contributions be considered to the First Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Care Ministry.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., N.B. followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. www.wilsonchapel.net.
