Frederick R. Millett, Jr.
Founder of Simple Living, Inc.
TEWKSBURY: Frederick R. “Fred” Millett, Jr. age 63, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Jane (Cipriano) (Jackson) Millett, with whom he would have celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on November 12, 2015.
Born in Lowell on August 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Frederick R. Millett and the late Edith “Edie” (Blackburn) Millett.
Fred was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Anchorage.
He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Upon his honorable discharge, Fred worked in the construction industry until 2003, when he founded Simple Living, Inc., a company committed to helping those in need of assistance.
Fred worked tirelessly at Simple Living, Inc. serving as its President and Executive Director.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, spending time with his family, surf casting at Plum Island and spending time in the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Erik Millett and his wife Jenn of Wakefield, Ivan Jackson and Adam Jackson; his granddaughter, Simone M. Millett of Wakefield; one brother, William “Russell” Millett of Tewksbury; also many extended family members.
Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 4, from 2-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Graveside Service at 10 a.m. at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury.
