Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Dolores “Dee” (Tanguay) Milbier, 84, a longtime resident of Stockman Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and the Baystate Apartments at 414 Chestnut Street, Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on August 31, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Armand H. and Agnes M. (Barry) Tanguay. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She furthered her education and, in 1978, received her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the former Putnam Vocational School in Springfield. She later graduated in 1985 from the University of Massachusetts and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Service. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Job Corps in Chicopee and later worked as a Social Worker for over 19 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance. During her leisure time, Dee was an avid reader, enjoyed cross country skiing and especially loved going to the beach. Most of all, she was a wonderful woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John W. Milbier, Sr. who was Called Home on December 23, 2000; her loving son, Thomas J. Milbier who was Called Home on April 16, 2008; and her two dear brothers, Todd Tanguay and Richard Tanguay. She leaves her five loving children, John W. Milbier, Jr. and his wife, Noreen, of Springfield, Elizabeth T. Patla and her husband, David, of Southampton, Catherine C. LaFountain of Longmeadow and Paul R. Milbier and Margaret M. Milbier, both of Springfield; her loving daughter-in-law, Jodi Milbier of Ludlow; her former daughter-in-law, Lucia Milbier of Springfield; her former son-in-law, Glenn LaFountain, Sr. of Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren, Sean Milbier and his wife, Sarah, Marco Milbier, Jenna Patla, Lori Milbier, Kim Milbier, Lauren LaFountain, Kristen LaFountain and Glenn LaFountain, Jr.; her cherished great-granddaughter, Madeleine Rose Milbier; her dear sister, Joanne Garvey of Old Saybrook, CT; her dear sister-in-law, Lori Tanguay of Mesa, AZ; her cherished close friend, Brenda A. Peretti of Windsor Locks, CT; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Milbier and Tanguay families. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Committal Service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Jewish Geriatric Services, Inc., Development Office, 770 Converse Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
