Obituary

Manuel C. Botelho, Jr., 79, of New Bedford died May 23, 2005 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Yvonne T. (Pelletier) Botelho.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Manuel C. and Celeste (Ferreira) Botelho, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Mr. Botelho was formerly employed as a police officer with the City of New Bedford Police Department before retiring as sergeant after 34 years.
He was a member of the New Bedford Police Association, the Massachusetts Police Association, and the Massachusetts Retired State County and Municipal Employees Association.
He enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Botelho served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Snyder during World War II and aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William P. Botelho, and his wife Ann, of Dartmouth; a daughter, Diane M. Sandland, and her husband Butch, of Narragansett, RI; three grandchildren, Mackenzie Botelho, Malloree Botelho, and Billy Sandland; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday, May 26th at 10:30 AM. His family will receive guests on Thursday from 9 - 10:30 AM prior to the service.
Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Missionaries of Charity, 556 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
