Belmont------James "Jim" Mooney Jr., 81, of Brown Hill Road, died at Mountain Ridge Center, Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
Jim was born April 14, 1934 in Franklin, NH, son to the late James H. and Muriel (Merrill) Jennes. He worked as a roofing foreman for over forty years for Page Roofing Company. He also worked for the Laconia High School as a custodian for ten years before retiring in 1997. Jim was also a member and past commander of the American Legion-Wilkins-Smith Post #1 as well as a member the VFW Post 1670 of Laconia as well. Better known as "Sonny" by his family, he enjoyed fishing, New England sports and had a love for all animals. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dawn E. (Walker) Mooney, two sons, James Mooney III and his wife Bonnie of Belmont, N.H., Steven Mooney and his wife Sue of Zebulan, N.C.; two daughters, Carol Haddock and her husband Chris of Meredith and Sandra Mooney of Center Barnstead; two brothers Raymond Mooney and William Mooney both of Gilsum, NH; two sisters, Kathleen Sweeney and June Houle also of Laconia; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces as well as two special felines, Mandy and C.C..
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by three brothers, Warren Mooney, Robert Mooney and Ronald Mooney; five sisters, Norine Allen, Ann Cartier, Corinthia Mooney. Mary Fife and Pricilla Mills; two sister-in-laws, Gertrude Mooney and Louise Mooney and one grandchild, Angela Mooney.
A Funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00am at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
Burial will follow immediately after in the family lot at Union Cemetery.
