Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER - David E. Lovering, 53, of East Bridgewater died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born May 7, 1952, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Earl and Virginia (Norris) Lovering.

Raised and educated in East Bridgewater, Mr. Lovering was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, where he was an outstanding track star and held the record for the 440 meter in track.

He worked for Stop & Shop Supermarket as a grocery clerk for 25 years, retiring 10 years ago.

Mr. Lovering was a member of the East Bridgewater Commercial Club, the 4-H Club and was a sports fan.

He is survived by two sisters, Judith Bailey and Marcia Weinfeller, both of East Bridgewater; two nieces, Amy Horton of Bridgewater and Deanna Zachary of Fall River; two nephews, Thomas Horton of Brockton and Donald Bailey of East Bridgewater; one great-niece and two great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held in the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Marcia Cham officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Brockton.

Visiting hours are Wednesday evening 4-8 p.m.
