Berestecki, Philip P. Esq. 71, of Wellesley died Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Philip, the proud son of the late Peter and Stanislawa Berestecki, was born on March 23, 1944 in Boston. He grew up surrounded by family and friends on Wood Avenue in Mattapan in a house built by his father and uncles. He graduated from Boston Latin School ’61, Boston College ‘65 and received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1969. Philip began his legal career at E.I. DuPont deMours & Co.,Wilmington, Delaware, but soon found his way to American Hoechst Corp., and Raytheon Company where he was a stalwart of the Office of General Counsel and the Intellectual Property Group for thirty-six years. When not working, he was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching Boston College Eagles football and hockey games with his daughter and fellow B.C. graduate, Laura. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Grace Adams Berestecki and his beloved daughter, Laura Grace Berestecki. He also leaves behind his nephew, James J. Baatz, and his nieces, Janine B. Murphy, CatherineP. Baatz, Elizabeth B. Baatz and Helen Gundlach along with two great-nieces, Colleen Murphy and Lianna Baatz, and three great-nephews, Conner Murphy and Aiden and Jackson Gundlach. He is predeceased by his daughter, Sara Elizabeth Berestecki, his sister, Jane Berestecki Baatz, his brother-in-law, James C. Baatz, his father-in-law, Warren Adams, and his mother-in-law, Leola Adams.
A Visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Wellesley, on Monday September 28, from 11-1pm, followed by a funeral service at 1pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
