Obituary

Bruce “Bear” Noel Shippee, 72, longtime resident of Mystic, died peacefully Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his home. He was born in Waterbury CT on December 19, 1942, the son of Harold and Cecelia (Nilan) Shippee. He grew up in Stamford and attended UCONN for a short time.

He was married to Edith Rothmann Yates for 15 years and then married Kathy Sonnemann in 1980. He was predeceased by Kathy in 1995.

Bruce was the proverbial “jack of all trades” truly, but worked for many years as a pipefitter at Electric Boat. and more recently as a bartender at the German Club in Mystic.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Shippee of Mansfield Center and his daughter Nicole Marron of Norwalk, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol Triscuzzi of Mystic, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Harold Jr., David and Geoffrey Shippee.

An open house style reception of celebration and remembrance will be held Sunday, October 4th from 1pm “until the wheels fall off” at the Social Society Froshsinn German Club of Mystic, 54 Greenmanville Avenue. The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic is assisting the family.
