Doctor Christopher “D.C.” Branam, 89, of Gainesville, Florida, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at E. T. York Haven Hospice Care in Gainesville, Florida.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Bobby Branam and the Rev. Bobby Richey officiating. Andrea Hollingsworth will deliver the eulogy. The family will receive friends Saturday morning, from 9 until 10:30, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Branam was born August 17, 1926, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Robert Lee and Precious Elizabeth Newsome Branam. He lived in Palatka, Florida area since 1951 and retired after 30 years of service in sales with St. John’s Beverage Company. Mr. Branam served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed listening to music and watching old movies. He loved history and documentaries. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Palatka, Florida.
He is survived by his son: Gary & Kathy Branam of Micanopy, Florida; a daughter: Linda Branam Wallace & Ralph of Talladega, Alabama; four grandchildren: Andrea Hollingsworth & Rick, Edward Wallace & Krystal, Michael Cousins & Tina and Jeremy Cousins & Lori; nine great-grandchildren, and a brother: Edwin J. Branam of Cordele. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Lavada Branam; a son, Steve “Bully” Branam; three sisters and five brothers.
