Westport – Omer J. Forand, 81, of Westport died May 22, 2005 at home after a brief illness. He was husband of the late Carolyn L. (Martin) Forand.
Mr. Forand was born in Westport, son of the late Omer S. and Eloysia (LaFrance) Forand, and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was a recipient of the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He was employed as a supervisor by the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement in 1984 and was also the former owner of J.O. Forand’s Tax Service, Westport. He was a recipient of the Marion Medal, a volunteer at St. George Church for many years, a Charter Member of the V.F.W. Ouellette Post #8502, Commander of the former D.A.V. Chapter 118 of Westport, a member of several bowling leagues, and enjoyed picking strawberries and blueberries that he sold to various stores in the area.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Janet L. Kearney of Weymouth, MA, Regina M. Trainor of New Hampshire and Mary Jane Afonso of Dartmouth; 3 sons: Michael J. Forand of Westport, Patrick S. Forand of Fall River and Joseph R. Forand of Fall River; 3 sisters: Cecile Phenix of Westport, Martha Sorel of Raynham and Jacqueline Allard of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
He was grandfather of the late Thomas Trainor and brother of the late Andrew Forand, Roland Forand, Normand Forand Camille Forand and Eloysia Forand.

Funeral from the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
