Obituary

Elizabeth (Borrelli) Byron, RN, age 89, passed away at home with her family by her side. Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Lawrence to the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Rogers) Borrelli and predeceased by her brothers Rafael, George and Clyde Borrelli. Elizabeth graduated from Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was a dedicated nurse, working at the
Lawrence General Hospital for 20 years as well as Bon Secours for another 20 years, retiring only due to ill health. She was a devout Catholic who attended St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence, MA. She was a devoted wife, dedicated grandmother and great grandmother who was so proud of her family and always enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them at the many family gatherings and vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee and St. Pete Beach in Florida. Her spare time was spent reading, oil painting her favorite scenery, and playing cribbage. She leaves her devoted and loving husband James of 68 years (September 21) whom she loved dearly as well as her children James and his wife Grace (Petralia), Thomas and his wife Raylene (Francis), Catherine and her husband Richard Sacco, as well as her daughter Betty Byron. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, James Byron, Tracey Dushame , RN, Scott Byron, Janette MacLean, Stephanie Santomassino, Pattie Mazza, Lori Hurley, Thomas Byron, Jonathan Kaveckas, Jeremy Kaveckas and Jeffrey Kaveckas. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was an inspiration for so many people making life happier and better for all around her. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to both Elder Services and the Hospice girls for their love and support for Mom.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, also in Lawrence, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
