Dorothy Mae Bellamy, 85, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, September 14, 2015, at Pruitt Health Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. David Fisher and the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Bellamy was born March 15, 1930, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Riley Vasco and Ivy Belle Fowler Griffin. She lived in the community all of her life and worked for the Ben Hill Primary School cafeteria and Dixie Peanut & Grain. She enjoyed fishing and crocheting. Mrs. Bellamy taught Sunday school at the former Northside Baptist Church and currently was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons: Larry & Judy Bellamy of Fitzgerald and Edgar & Carolyn Bellamy of Irwin County; a daughter: Diane Bellamy of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren: Sandy Smith of Fitzgerald, Amanda & Michael Owens of Irwinville, Kelli Lott of Roberta and Larry Bellamy, Jr. & Andrea of Jacksonville, Florida; four great-grandchildren: Traci Smith of Fitzgerald, Ansley Bellamy of Jacksonville, Florida, Ella Bellamy of Jacksonville, Florida and Michael Paul Owens, Jr. of Irwinville and a sister-in-law: Daner Mae Griffin of Fitzgerald.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Earnest “Shorty” Bellamy and three brothers: Aubrey Griffin, Donnie Griffin and Millard Griffin.
