Age 97 of Stillwater. Passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Szczepanski. Ida is survived by her 6 children, Arma Jane Karaer (Yasar), Bruce (Edith), Dave (Dorothy), Mike (Nancy), Steve (Barbara) and Tom (Cyndie); 10 grandchildren; as well great and great-great grandchildren. Ida was born on the family farm in Denmark Township in 1917, moved to Afton, and went to school in St. Paul, before becoming a long-time resident of Maplewood and later Stillwater. Ida and Alexander married in 1938. A consummate homemaker and family matriarch, Ida also devoted herself to her work with children in special education, 4-H, and serving on the Ramsey County Fair Board. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, and cherished her time with her family. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday (September 15, 2015) 11:00 AM at CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL, 611 3rd St. South, Stillwater. Interment Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial preferred to Lakeview Hospice.
