TAUNTON – John Lopes Meireles, husband of the late Debra V. (Hill) Meireles, died at Tufts New England Medical Center on Sept. 6, 2015.
He was 68.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Antonio and Domingas (Lopes) Meireles.
John served in the Portuguese Army prior to coming to the U.S. in 1979 and moved to Taunton 4 years ago.
He worked in maintenance at Bridgewater State College since 1999.
He leaves his Fiancé, Dulce Silva of Taunton; two sons, Sean Meireles and Joshua Meireles, both of Taunton; his stepchildren, AJ and Andrea Silva, both of Taunton; a sister, Maria Da Rosa of Pawtucket, RI; an aunt, a niece and five nephews. He was also the brother of the late Camilio Meireles.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Sept. 12th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 11th from 5 to 8 p.m.
