Ola Jane Melton, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Fitzgerald Church of God, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner and the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Melton was born April 21, 1923, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late William Henry and Pinkie Ann Crews Hobby. She lived in the community most of her life and worked in the textile industry. Mrs. Melton was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Rudolph “Rudy” Clinton Melton and Peggy of Fitzgerald and James Edward Melton of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Wade Melton, Jason Melton, Lisa M. Bell, Theresa M. Paulk, Amy M. Sellars, Selena M. Sharpe, Brian Melton and David Melton, Dana Hood, Diedra Rose and Derrick Musslewhite; 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great- grandchild: Connor Ray Durham. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Charles Lee Melton and three brothers: J. C. Hobby, Willie B. Hobby and Roy Lee Hobby.
