Obituary

Joseph E. Capone, age 85, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center on Sept. 6, 2015. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Grace L. (Arsenault) Capone.

Born in Winchester, Joe was the son of the late Emilio and Nicolina (Luongo) Capone. He was raised and educated in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School. His family fondly recalled that he pointed out that he grew up on the same Winchester street where he built a home for his own family, and proudly stated, “ I put every nail in this house.”

After high school, Mr. Capone enlisted in the Army National Guard. He then enrolled at Northeastern University, where he received his engineering degree. He was employed as the Assistant Town Engineer for the Town of Winchester for over 40 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Capone leaves behind his children: Maryanne Barron and her husband Stephen of Winchester, Regina Capone and her fiancé James Gray of Woburn, Deborah Mullen and her husband Bill of Shapliegh, ME, and was pre-deceased by his sons Wayne A. and Joseph P. Capone. He was also the dear brother of Pauline Cerulli of Winchester, the devoted grandfather of Melissa and her husband Bernie Giamberardino of Woburn, Nicole Pandolph of Winchester, Stephanie Forgett and her husband Gerard of Methuen, Stephen Barron and his wife Tara of Winthrop, and is further survived by 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Wed., Sept. 9th at 12:00 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., NY, NY 10016 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Baystate Branch, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
