Armand Strangis, Jr. age 79, of Whitman, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, September 4, 2015, at All American Assisted Living, Hanson. Armand was the loving husband of Geraldine (Berard) Strangis for 56 years. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Armand and Rose (Coit) Strangis, Sr. Armand was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1954, and after graduation enlisted in the US Army. Following his years in the service, he was employed by Halliday Lithograph in Hanover, New England Book Components in Hingham, and retired as General Manager of Laminations East in Holyoke. He was a longtime member and a past president of the Boston Litho Club, and the Knights of Columbus in Whitman. His family, especially his grandchildren, was his biggest joy. He also enjoyed art, cartooning, painting and gardening. Always the life of the party, Armand was fun loving, liked to make others smile, and always had a joke to share.
He is also survived by his children Leo Berard Strangis and his wife Donna of Whitman, Rosemary Catrone and her husband Peter of Bridgewater, Elizabeth Porter and her husband David of Middleboro and Catherine Witt and her husband Joe of Whitman; nine grandchildren, Joshua Porter, Zachary Porter and his wife Kaitlin, Christopher Catrone, Steven, Armand and Seth Roache, and Bailey, Armanda, and Jordan Strangis; two great grandchildren Aiden Colligan and Saylor Fitzpatrick; a sister Mary Canty of Lakeville and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Strangis, Beatrice Fisher, Ivy Bell and twin sister Pearl Strangis.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the All American Assisted Living facility who lovingly cared for Armand.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:45am for a funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 9am. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
