Moultonborough-----Mildred Louise Johnson Bean 90, of Black Cat Island Road, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital.
Louise was born on December 15, 1924, she was the daughter of Fred Louis Johnson and Hilma (Anderson) Johnson. Louise grew up in Concord NH. After Graduating from Concord High School in the National Honor Society, she attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated with a BS degree in Hospital Dietetics. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, was a Registered Dietitian and became the teaching dietitian for MGH School Of Nursing.
Louise was also a Senior Nutritionist for the State of New York in Albany and was on the nursing school faculty for Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburg PA. Her education career continued when she moved to Massachusetts and taught at Bigelow Jr. High in Newton MA. While there she earned an MS degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She went on to set up a program in that field at Wilmington High School in Wilmington, MA and taught there for several years before retiring.
Louise was a gifted violinist and was a member and past president of the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra in Arlington MA. She played at many concerts as 1st violinist during her 10 years with the orchestra. As a long time resident of Lexington MA and Moultonborough NH, she enjoyed being part of a bell ringing choir at her church and was in quilting groups in Lexington MA, the Belknap Mill Quilters Guild in Laconia NH and the Country Quilters Guild in Moultonborough NH.
Louise is survived by her son Matthew H. Bean, of Moultonborough NH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Russell H. Bean.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be private.
