Sanbornton-----Odilon “Ody” Alcide Cormier, 88, of Leavitt Road, died at his home on Monday, August 31, 2015. He was the widower of Monique T. Cormier who died in 2012.
Ody was born on May 14, 1927 in Laconia, the son of the late Alcide O. and Lena (Lebel) Cormier. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He was a business owner that remained active in his interests right up until his final days.
Ody was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, MA and the Oxford School of Business in Boston, MA. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1, Laconia.
Survivors include three sons, Kip Cormier, of Sanbornton, Pierre Cormier, of Charlotte, NC and Claude Cormier, of Sanbornton; two daughters, Suzanne Arena, of Sanbornton and Nicole Cormier, of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Megan, CJ, Thomas, Jenna, Frankie, and Casey; three sisters, Doris Simoneau, Stella Roux, and Cecile St. Gelais and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sisters Lorette Piche and Lucille Lafond.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9:00 am at St. Andre Bessette Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. Laconia NH.
Burial will follow with Military Honors in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia NH.
