TAUNTON – Joyce C. (Chambers) Benevides, wife of the late Edward S. Benevides, died at Taunton’s Marian Manor on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.
She was 86.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manton and Florence (Avila) Chambers.
Mrs. Benevides was raised and educated in Taunton and was a graduate of Taunton High School.
A retired waitress, she was employed by the Raynham Dog Track for many years.
She retired many years ago and enjoyed dancing and sewing.
Survivors include 2 sons, Rick A. Benevides and his wife Lynda and Steven Benevides and his wife Deborah, all of East Taunton; 4 daughters, Sandra Benevides of Taunton, Gayla Frazier and her husband Michael, and Lynn Waterman and her husband Billy, all of Florida, and Lisa Rose of Taunton; a brother, Bruce Chambers; a sister, Marinda Amaral and her husband Albert of East Taunton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Alan Chambers and Cecilia Smith.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Sept. 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be private at the Mass. National VA Cemetery in Bourne.
