Salem – Mr. Harold E. Wendell 75, of Salem, a Salem businessman, husband of Delina Cormier Devoe Wendell of Salem and the late Mary L. (Foss) Wendell, died Wednesday morning, May 18, 2005 in the Lafayette Convalescent Home in Marblehead.
Born in Danvers, son of the late Riley and Lula (Wright) Wendell, he received his education in the Salem school system and graduated from Salem High School.
Mr. Wendell had owned and operated Harold’s Floor and Wall Covering of Salem for many years, until the time of his retirement.
A longtime resident of the City of Salem, he was an avid ten pin and candle pin bowler. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and playing cards. In his younger years, he was a member of the Gerry Five in Marblehead.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Philip J. and Gail F. Wendell of Beverly, two grandsons, Scott H. Wendell and Lee A. Wendell both of Beverly, one great grandson, Jack T. Wendell of Salem, two step-sons, Richard Devoe and his wife Joyce, Donald and his wife Beth Devoe, two step-daughters, Judith Pelletier and Irene Deamondtides and her husband Billy, step grandchildren, Brian and Randy Devoe, Jason and Travis Pelletier, Justin and Suzanne Devoe, Derek Devoe, Jeremy Devoe, Jennifer and Tracy Devoe, Danny Devoe, Nicky and Garrett Deamondtides and Whitney Devoe, step great grandchildren, Ashley Devoe, September, Maya, and T.V. Pelletier and Harrison Devoe. He was also step-father of the late Peter Devoe.
His funeral will be held from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., East (at Salem Common) Salem, Friday, May 20, 2005 at 9:30 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne’s Church, Salem at 10:30 A.M. Relatives & friends invited. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Visiting hours Thursday, 4 to 8 P.M.
