Lucille Marie Finger, age 91, of Laurelwood Road, Groton, died Wednesday morning at Mystic Manor after an extended illness.
Mrs. Finger was born in Casper, WY on July 17, 1913 the daughter of William F. and Ellen J. (Sullivan)Witt. Raised in Rochester, she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a graduate of Marshall High School and St. Joseph Business College.
She was employed as a head cashier at Star Market in Rochester for several years before her retirement in 1968. After her retirement, she moved to Groton to be closer to her family. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and during her time at Mystic Manor, took an active interest in the resident recreational activities.
She was married to Earl G. Finger in Pennsylvania on September 12, 1939. He died in June, 1978.
Mrs. Finger is survived by her children, Shelly M. Lechner of Groton and Kerry Finger of Chicago; a sister, Josephine Dalberth of Rochester, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Finger and two sisters, Gladys Spiegel and Eileen Richards.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Groton on Friday at 1pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mystic Manor Resident Recreation Fund, 475 High Street, Mystic CT 06355.
