Millbury – Lawrence J. Daignault, 82, of Millbury formerly of Northboro died on Monday May 16 in St. Vincent Hospital.
His wife Exzina L. “Lydia” (Maranda) Daignault died in 1989. He is survived by a daughter Patricia Strom of Millbury; two brothers Ernest J. Daignault of Worcester, and Maurice H. Daignault of East Falmouth; a companion Muriel V. Stubbert of Millbury; 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two nephews; and Dan Light of Sutton which Mr. Daignault considered him to be the son he never had. He is also predeceased by two sisters Arline Bourgoin and Yvonne Daignault.
Mr. Daignault was born in North Pownal, VT son of Joseph and Elma (Daigneault) Daignault and lived in Northboro for many years before moving to Millbury. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II.
Mr. Daignault worked as a set man for General Electric Telecron in Ashburnham for 29 years before retiring in 1979. He was a life member of the Millbury V.F.W. Post and a member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243.
The funeral will be held on Thursday May 19 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church 10 Waters St. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home on Wednesday May 18. Members of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 will conduct a ritual at 7 PM during the calling hours.
