Marcia (DePiero) Sarno, a long-time Medford resident died Sunday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after abrief illness. She was 82.
Born in Beverly, she was raised in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Luiga (Moretto) and Angelo DePiero. A graduate of Girl’s High School in Boston, Marcia lived in Medford for more than 60 years. She was a dedicated wife and mother, devoted to the care of her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony A. Sarno, who died in 1999. She was a devoted mother to Janice Polcari and her husband Tony of Billerica, Louis Sarno and his wife Cathy of California. She was an adored grandmother to Christine White and her husband Greg, Michael Polcari and wife Leah, Louis Sarno, and Tina Sarno; great grandmother to Abigail White, Anthony and Isabella Sarno. She was the sister of the late Louis DePiero, who died in the service of his Nation during World War II.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9 AM at St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford with the Rev’d. Kevin G. Toomey, presiding. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Family and friends may visit Wednesday 4 - 8 the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
