Obituary

Mamie L. Yown Pate, 86, of Chula passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Mrs. Pate will be laid to rest at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Clint Hand, Eli Sumner, Alex Sumner, Joey Walker, Wilton Jones and Wilt Jones will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Pate was born January 12, 1929 in Colquitt County, the daughter of Joe Tillman Yown and Minnie Brooks Yown , both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Clayton Pate, to whom she was married for 58 years; three brothers; and five sisters. She worked in the lunchroom at Len Lastinger Elementary school and was a Pink Lady at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Pate is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Gwen Pate of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Wilton Jones of Tifton and Jo Anne and Curtis Day of Dadeville, Alabama; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dona and Alex Sumner, Wilt and Jessica Jones, Rayne Day, Clint and Andrea Hand and Clay and Krista Pate; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Eli Sumner, Harlee and Joplin Jones, Cody and Jake Winslett, Ariel Pitts, Brian Tomko, Nicole Lamb and Omie Pate; and several great-great grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 293 Mount Zion Church Road, Chula, GA 31733; or the American Cancer Society, Tifton Chapter, 507 West 3rd Avenue, Suite 4, Albany, GA 31701.
