Daniel Paul Schevis Jr., 54, of Londonderry, NH and formerly Danvers, MA, died May 13, 2005 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH following a lengthy battle with cancer (peripheral nerve sheath tumor), a soft tissue sarcoma. He was the husband of Micheline Michaud-Schevis of Londonderry. Mr. Schevis was born in Beverly, MA a son of Marjorie J. (Mello) Schevis and the late Daniel Paul Schevis Sr. and was raised in Danvers. He graduated from Danvers High School in 1968 and then attended the Rhode Island School of Design, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture in 1972 and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1973. After graduation, he was employed by the Rhode Island Land Company as Assistant Project Manager for the construction of 400 luxury condominium units on Narragansett Bay in Bristol, RI. In 1974, he moved to the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire where he became a well known bartender until the fall of 1978, ending by managing the lounge at the Red Parka Pub and bartending at Horsefeathers. From late 1978 through 1980 Mr. Schevis was employed by CRS Design Associates of Houston, TX, and worked in Saudi Arabia as the Architectural Project Manager for the renovations to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in Riyadh. Upon returning from Saudi Arabia, Mr. Schevis worked for Columbia Construction Co. and Graham Architectural Products Corp. He then took a one year sabbatical to design and construct his home in Danvers, which was occupied in the summer of 1984. From January 1985 until the time of his death, he was employed by Brickstone Properties Inc. of Andover, MA as their Director of Operations, where he was responsible for up to 2.624M SF of commercial office space.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Marjorie Schevis of Wolfeboro Falls, NH, a daughter, Sara Schevis of Danvers, four step-sons, Brett Flint of Rowley, MA , his wife Lori and their daughter Georgia-Kate, Carl Grenier of Salem, NH, his wife Sandra, their daughter Chelsea and their son Ryan, Eric Grenier of Nashua, NH, his sons Joseph, Tyler and Gage, Jeffrey Beal of Nashua, his son Corey, his sister, Brenda Crane of Gorham, ME, her daughter Taylor and her son Jasper, his brother, David Schevis of Hampton, NH, and his wife Michele, his father-in-law, Alphee Michaud of Hudson, NH and St. Basil, NB Canada, four sister-in-laws, Arielle Penney of Nashua, and her husband Richard, Alphena Morrissette of Chicago, IL, her husband Armand, their daughter Tina and their son Robert, Nancy Chapero of New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and her husband Douglas, Ann Michaud of Nashua, her daughter Jennifer and her sons, Jeffery, Shaun and Patrick, two brother-in-laws, Richard Michaud of Boston, MA, Michael Michaud of Hudson, his wife Marie, his daughter Kimberly and his son Michael, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18th at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry with cremation following. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry on Tuesday from 5 - 8pm.
