Mattie Ellen Moore Cofer, age 100, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- N MS in Oxford, MS
Visitation services are Thursday, May 12, 2005, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with funeral services in Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 am Friday morning, May 13, 2005. Officiating the services will be Brother Bob Floyd and Brother David Floyd with Bobby Singleton, Bobby Schmitz, Shane Grinder, Heath Grinder, Wayne Moore and Steve Moore serving as pallbearers.
"Miss Mattie",as she was affectionately known, was a faithful member of the Water Valley Church of Christ having been a Sunday School teacher and Ladies Bible Class teacher for many many years. She was a scholar of the old testament and as late as last year gave a presentation about the Tabernacle to the Yalobusha Historical Society.
She is survived by one sister, Idell Starnes of Memphis, TN and a large host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were: Her loving husband, Finus Cofer: six brothers, Bill Moore, Moody Moore, Herbert Moore, Jessie Moore, Charlie Moore and Euwel Moore: A step-brother, Jim Davis: five sisters, Ethel Booker, Clister Barron, Mable Bolton, Carlene Samuels and Wahloollah DelaRose : and two step-sisters, Nellie Barnes and Gertrude Webb.
