Obituary

OREM, Utah -- Shirley Marie Wilder, 82, of Orem died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Beehive Home No. 5 Assisted Living Center. She was the widow of John "Bud" Wilder; they were married 59 years.
Mrs. Wilder lived at the Cove Point Retirement Community in Provo and on Palisade Drive in Orem; she resided in Utah since 1987. She summered on Cuttyhunk, Mass., for many years.
Born in Burley, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late Floyd S. and Olive E. Elmer. At age 5, she moved with her family to San Diego and graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1942. In the mid-1940s she moved to Braintree, Mass.
She was a saw operator with Consolidated Aircraft during World War II and volunteered as a hostess for the USO.
Mrs. Wilder was an original member of the first branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Weymouth, Mass. She served in the organization's Relief Society, MIA and Primary Organization. She was known for her compassion toward the elderly sisters in her ward. In Orem, she was a member of the DUP, assisted with humanitarian projects and served in the Relief Society and her ward library.
Survivors include a son, Steven Wilder, and his wife, Ruth, of Orem; a daughter, Beth Dillenbeck, and her husband, Vern, of Orem; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held in July on Cuttyhunk for Mrs. Wilder and her husband.
Arrangements are by the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Mass.
