Olive Catuogno, 85, of Smithfield died peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Ralph Catuogno. They had been married for 59 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Milton and Mary (Melei) Wilson. Olive had lived in Smithfield for the past 47 years. She was one of the pioneer members of the Smithfield Raiders Auxillary and Smithfield High Booster Club. She also coached girls CYO basketball for many years. Her personal joys included playing her piano, card games, the daily Jumble and her family. She also possessed a genuine compassion for all animals and the underdogs of the world.
She will always be remembered as a very loving and giving person.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughters, Marilyn Harrington, of Smithfield, Carolyn Cancelliere, of Smithfield, Sandra Rego and her husband Michael of Coventry, Dr. Linda Nield and her husband Timothy of Frostburg, MD, Lori and Leslie Catuogno of Smithfield, as well as her grandchildren, Adam, Michael, Joshua, Olivia and Timothy. She was the mother of the late Ralph M. Catuogno and the mother-in-law of the late Steven Cancelliere. She was also the sister of Milton Wilson of East Greenwich, Ronald Wilson of Cranston, Charlotte Kiernan of Cranston and Alan Wilson of Nevada.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 9:30am at St Joseph’s Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston. Visitation Wednesday from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
