The visitation for Mrs. Rachel Winters will be held on Thursday May 12, 2005 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be on Friday May 13, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Larry Wicker. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Water Valley, MS.
Mrs. Rachel Wilson Winters was born on September 22, 1938 to the late Mr. Henry and Mrs. Ruby Hobson Wilson. She married Mr. Early Winters on January 25, 1956. Mr. Early Winters preceded her in death on July 20, 2002. She was a factory worker at Big Yank in Water Valley, Mississippi and a member of the Campground Baptist Church. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. During her life she loved watching birds, crocheting, gardening, and yard sales. Caring for her children and great grandchildren, singing, and going to church, were some of here favorite things to do. Rachel always put others first. She was there when you needed her. She was a good cook especially when it came to frying chicken and making homemade biscuits. A few of her fondest memories were of going to the Grand Ole Opry, seeing Vince Gill, and going by Loretta Lynn’s home.
Mrs. Winters is survived by two sons, Jackie Joe Winters and Charles Ray Winters both of Water Valley, Mississippi; three sisters, Louise Thompson of Starkville, Mississippi, Juanita Dunaway of Fulton, Mississippi, and Linda Hester of Water Valley, Mississippi; Two brothers, Thomas Wilson of Plantersville, Mississippi and Bobby Joe Wilson of Crenshaw, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Angie, Michele, and Molly Winters all of Water Valley, Mississippi, Josh Winters of Oxford, Mississippi, and Tony Winters of Grenada, Mississippi; and 10 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Earl Winters, and two sisters, Dolly Snider and Odessa Morphis.
